If you’re hunting for somewhere where little hands can hunt for stories, giggle through sensory play, and dive deep into digital adventures—without spending a penny—Dublin City Libraries are absolute gold for families. They’re more than just books: Summer Stars, the national reading challenge that runs every summer, charms children into reading with fun cards, online eBooks and audiobooks, and sweet rewards galore. New parents, rejoice: grab a free bedtime storybook and library card wallet for your under-4s to keep—ideal for winding down the day with snuggles and tales.
If your little one is starting school, swing by for a First 5 Little Library book bag packed with comforting stories and a friendly postcard to share with their teacher. And everywhere you go, from baby-friendly “storytime” gatherings to sensory corners (think magic “Tovertafel” tables, Sensory Cubbies, and bespoke resources for children with additional needs), there’s something to spark curiosity, calm the chaos, and celebrate learning, because these libraries truly roll out the red carpet for every child.
Find your local library and introduce your little one to the joy of books.
