ClapHandies PlayLabs offer babies, wobblers and toddlers (suitable from birth - 3.5 years) a chance to play, meet other children and develop new skills along the way. Their weekly engaging social play classes offer a wide variety of experiences tailored to the needs of each age group. As well as a chance for children socialize with children of their own age, it also offers parents/caregivers the opportunity to make friends in their area.
Baby + Toddler Sensory Play
Toddler Sense is a world of sensory stimulation, play, fun adventures and learning for your toddler. Toddler sense is the follow on programme from the award winning Baby Sensory. Classes range from 13 months to 4.5 years. Come and help Jennifer and Todd on their mission to learn all about Planet Earth through Adventure Play, Songs, Music, Puppet Shows, Light Shows, Bubble Shows and much more! This is a magical journey of imagination and learning about the world around us. Each week is a different theme, from Space to Under the Sea, to an Ugly Bug Ball and a trek in the Jungle, so there is plenty to see and do! Toddler Sense explores it all!
All activities in the class are designed to work on a range of skills and developmental milestones. Hand eye coordination, gross motor, fine motor, visual stimulation, emotional regulation, exploring the world around us, social and emotional development to name a few!

Their Baby Sensory programme (suitable from birth - 13 months) has been designed specifically for babies from birth. The Baby Development activities stimulate the senses and help your baby develop, using a combination of original and traditional songs and rhymes to develop early communication skills, you will always remember the moment your baby first uses the signs of our Say Hello song which is played at the beginning of each Baby Sensory class.
Our Toddler Sense programme (suitable from 13 months - 3 years) is an Adventure Play activity that has been designed to build on the skills acquired at Baby Sensory. Toddler Sense is an exciting introduction into learning through play.

Mini Music is an action-packed music workshop experience for babies and young children aged 3 months to 8 years old. These 30-minute workshops take place on Saturdays at the National Concert Hall, and seek to provide an immersive learning environment for young children. Carefully designed to suit each of the age groups, workshops are fun and accessible with foot-tapping, memorable tunes.

Colourstrings training starts in the Music Kindergarten taking the young child on a wonderful adventure through “Musicland” where their sense of pitch and rhythm is developed alongside the training of the inner ear.
Music Kindergarten classes are taught in age specific groups, and are suitable for children from one year upwards to 8 years of age. There are special introductory baby groups for babies from 3-12 months.

For adults, messy play can be a lot of work and feel stressful. However, there are many benefits to messy play. Early childhood education experts say that play is the work of the child. The Early Years, Children and Families Programme plays a major part in encouraging learning through art at the National Gallery of Ireland. This strand is for all the family, from babies and toddlers to younger teens and their parents/carers. It is a highly engaging programme, supporting both cognitive, fine motor and emotional/affective development in children while encouraging joyful intergenerational engagement with art.
Sunday is the ‘Family Day’ where free drop-in sessions, tours and activities all have a family focus. Although you can drop into the creative corner upstairs and pick up free art packs.
The Gallery also hold 'New Parents’ Tours' where they will guide you around the gallery and demonstrate how to make the most out of everything it has to offer for families,

Tempo Music School offers music appreciation classes for children and parents together in our Baby Beats and Mini Beats classes. 'Baby Beats' is a fun and interactive music class for young children between 9 months and 3 years of age. Our super friendly facilitator will awaken the musicality in children using song and percussion. In the 'Mini Beats' class, kids from 4 to 6 years old experience a wide range of instruments, songs and compositions in a comfortable class setting while having plenty of fun in doing so.
Benefits to the children include exercising their sensory motor ability, developing coordination, rhythm, listening and speaking, while promoting the interaction between the children and and also between the child and their parent.
