MoLI – A Literary Adventure in the Heart of Dublin
Step into MoLI (Museum of Literature Ireland) at UCD Newman House on St. Stephen’s Green, a brilliant destination for families and anyone who loves stories. MoLI brings Ireland’s literary history alive through immersive exhibitions, rare writings (including “Copy No. 1” of Ulysses), and spaces where even the youngest visitor can explore, imagine, and create. You’ll find children’s exhibitions and weekly programming that spark curiosity and encourage playful learning.
What makes MoLI especially wonderful for parents and kids is their Learning Programme. From family-friendly creative workshops and kid-centric exhibitions, to the LitLab, “Shut Your Eyes and See” and “MoLI in the Classroom” for schools, there are so many ways for children and adults alike to explore Irish literature and find their own voice. If you’re curious, there are also learning resources, guided tours, podcasts, and an annual work experience programme for older students.
The LitLab is a dedicated, family-friendly space that invites creativity, calm and discovery for visitors of all ages. Bright and welcoming, with comfy couches, views over the lush Iveagh Gardens, a trickling water fountain and a peaceful vibe, it’s a perfect spot for kids (and parents) to explore stories, draw, make, dream. Entry is included with your MoLI museum ticket (or free if you’re a MoLI member).
The Commons Cafe is a hidden gem and super kid friendly, with a great kids menu and highchairs. MoLI is fully set up for family comfort with baby changing and easy access to the LitLab via a lift. A perfect spot for a rainy day or a peaceful afternoon, MoLI connects Dublin’s past and present one story at a time.
Step into the Iveagh Gardens after, through a secret door from the MoLI garden!
